How to properly care for your pillar candle

I will share with you all the tips needed to enjoy the full life of your candle. Happy reading!

Pillars are designed to burn for long periods of time: at least 3-4 hours each time you light it. When you light your candle, light the base of the wick not the tip. It is very important that the first time you burn a pillar candle, you let it burn long enough so that the melt pool extends close to the edge of the candle before extinguishing it. After a while the candle will have a nice mantle ( a wall that is created around the edge of the candle. Fold it a little so the wax melts some and only a short mantle is left; this allows the candle to consume more wax and keeps the flame brighter. Keep the wick centered. It will help your candles burn evenly and protect the sides of your holder, which could be damaged by close contact with the flame. Instead of blowing out the candle, dunk the wick into the wax pool and straighten. This ensures an easier relight and prevents the wick from smoking.

A pillar can be burned for a long time as long as the sides of the pillar remain intact. For extended burn times, you may want to extinguish the candle, allow it to cool until it firms up and then light it again. We recommend that you do not burn your beeswax pillar in a hurricane lamp or similar enclosed candleholders. They may hold in the heat and the pillar could become soft or melt through the sides and spill wax. The 'chimney' of the hurricane lamp may also encourage your beeswax pillar to smoke. Beeswax candles burn very hot and we don't feel a beeswax pillar is suitable to burn in a hurricane lamp. Always place candles on a flat, level, heat resistant surface away from drafts and combustibles.

Which one is your favorite, the hex or honeycomb style ?
