At The Earthly Shop, we’ll never tell you to mind your own beeswax. In fact, we’re more than happy to share the details of our earth-friendly goods.
Whether it’s 100% pure beeswax candles, raw honey, or beeswax-based skincare products, our collection is curated with sustainability in mind. All of the products crafted at our northern California headquarters are made with Shasta County beeswax whenever possible.
As we add new goods to The Earthly Shop, you can trust they’ll be as wholly natural as the thing that started it all, our handmade, pure beeswax candles.
Meet the Owner
KAREN GARFIAS
The Earthly Shop’s founder, Karen Garfias, started working with beeswax after meeting a very impressive beekeeper – the man who would become her husband. But her love for bees was more than a buzz.
“I was fascinated with all the things you could do with beeswax!” she says. “I saw a lot of potential.”
Karen has turned that potential into candles, soaps, and even beeswax-based skincare products. And she loves seeing the final goods go home with her ecologically-minded customers.
“The biggest thing for me is sharing something beautiful with others,” she says, “helping them connect with nature on a personal level when they burn candles and showing awareness for the bees and the wonderful impact they have on humans and in nature. Not only do we consume their sweet, nutritious honey and make use of their beeswax to create candles and skincare products, but we also depend on pollination to sustain human life. It’s mind-blowing.
“Bees inspire me,” Karen continues, “because they’re hardworking, they work as a team, and they’re very organized — qualities I aspire to.”

The Earthly Shop’s handmade beeswax candles have no other waxes or fragrance added, period. Pure beeswax candles are a better choice for people with sensitivities because paraffin, a petroleum-based wax, contains chemical additives. Additionally, beeswax candles have been shown to burn longer and brighter, with fewer drips.

At The Earthly Shop, we only use beeswax from Shasta County for our California-made candles, soaps, and other products.
Owner Karen Garfias makes each candle with care and a lot of love, melting and filtering the wax before pouring it into molds, one by one.
“Some might consider it time-consuming,” she says, “but it has definitely helped me appreciate taking things one step at a time.”
